Whether you are enchanted by the warm toned hues of Autumn leaves or have a love for sweater weather, Thicket Priory is the perfect setting for an Autumn wedding…
“Anna and the team at Thicket Priory had every inch of detail covered. With their help, we were able to focus on enjoying our day and spending time with the people closest to us. Thank you so much!”

5 Tips for an Autumn Wedding:
1. A change in season means a change in weather. During the Autumn months we can expect cooler temperatures and a higher chance of rain but do not let the chance of wet weather put you off an Autumn wedding. Rain on your wedding day is in fact good luck and signifies that your marriage will last! At Thicket Priory we have an assortment of welly boots and umbrellas on hand; photos of guests wearing a pair of statement welly boots only adds an extra element of fun to your day!
2. As the weather changes so does the food; the British harvest hits its peak in Autumn. For the night before the wedding, we would recommend treating guests to pie and mash or a hearty grazing feast. This works especially well as guests may be travelling from different places and so their arrival times will be staggered.
3. Our Ballroom with its neutral setting allows for you to choose any colour theme and aesthetic for your décor. For centerpieces and fireplace décor we would recommend seasonal foliage and pinecones to create a classic rustic aesthetic. Pretty gemstone hues such as emerald and ruby also perfectly compliment the warm toned hues of Autumn leaves.
4. Long sleeves provide added coverage for the cooler temperature. From fitted lace to fluttery ruffles, the options for dresses with sleeves are endless. Whether you prefer traditional dresses or a bohemian aesthetic, you will be able to find the perfect long-sleeved wedding dress to suit your personal style.
5. To continue with a rustic aesthetic, a naked style cake decorated with foliage, berries and figs and mounted on a wooden log slice is perfect. Alternatively, if you would prefer a traditional style cake, opt for a warmer tone for the icing such as cream rather than pure white.
“The architecture at Thicket Priory is absolutely breath-taking. We were able to visit the venue several times ahead of our big day and with every visit we discovered more magical, hidden gems which made it more and more magnificent. We would without doubt recommend Thicket Priory – it is the most enchanted, dreamy venue I have ever been to. We feel truly blessed this this was our wedding venue!”

4. Outside on our terrace, guests can enjoy toasted marshmallows and hot chocolate and even toffee apples for a seasonal treat.
5. Autumn is the perfect season for a sparkler sendoff which is a fun activity for guests and creates the perfect setting for evening photographs.
“Meeting Anna and her wonderful team left us feeling completely sure about our decision, they welcomed us so warmly and took the time to get to know us and the kind of wedding we wanted to create. We wanted our guests to feel relaxed but also to be able to enjoy a little luxury, a place we could be ourselves and be transported at the same time. We got that and a whole lot more with our choice of venue. Each of the rooms are so unique and the whole place has been lovingly restored to an incredible standard.”
