So how did you meet Mr/Mrs Right?

“It’s a classic – an office romance! We first met at a pre-interview dinner back in November 2011 (how time flies!)  We sat across from each other all evening but we never actually got the opportunity to speak to each other.  Little did we know that in a few (well quite a few!) years later we would be husband and wife!  What’s more amazing is that, in a total magical coincidence, we married on 9th November 2019, which we’ve since discovered after getting married was the anniversary of when we first met!”

At Thicket Priory we absolutely love the details, whether that is something we have provided or something a couple have provided…the photographers will always capture the little things that really do make a difference. As Rachael & Kyle chose to marry in the Autumn, a good set of wellies is the perfect partner for a walk around our wonderful grounds, spread over 18 acres and surrounded on three sides on a nature reserve, it really is the ultimate country retreat for you and your guests.

One of the most important decisions for any couple in their wedding planning is the flavours of the cake! The Hipperson’s certainly did well with their choices, with Espresso, Lemon & Blackberry, Spiced Carrot (how very autumnal!), White Chocolate & Raspberry…all sitting on a base layer of Black Forest! Wowza!

Each guest received a hand made favour from the couple which was a ‘seed bomb’, from herbs to pumpkins, this was a super eco-friendly way of doing their wedding favours, we loved this! To see a few other ideas for an eco-friendly wedding, why not dive back in time to one of our first blogs HERE.

Kyle, Dan the best man and the boys had plenty space in our Vavasour Suite for getting suited and booted! Didn’t they scrub up well! The cufflinks were a gift from Rachael to Kyle to morning of the wedding, and they really did finish off Kyle’s smart tailored look for the arrival of his bride!

With Kyle ‘banished’ to the East wing, the Bridal party had full reign of the Gallery landing with the entourage taking over the Buckingham Suite for hair and make-up. The colour pop from the red bridesmaid dresses was so beautiful when taking in the morning Champagne to be enjoyed whilst getting ready. Beautiful details in both Rachael’s dress, veil and hair piece were simply exquisite.

How did you find THE dress to say ‘I do’ in?

“I found my unbelievable wedding dress at Chloe Jane Bridalwear. Chloe stocks incredibly beautiful, bespoke designer dresses. I tried on a handful of dresses, all stunning, but kept be drawn to one particular dress – the dress – I felt amazing in it and it was so unqiue with a high neck and a catherdral length train to die for! I fell in love! Even today, everytime I look at my dress I love it more and more. Chloe herself was absolutely amazing. She creates such a calm, relaxing atmosphere and provides invaluable advise about what will suit your figure, style and compliment the dress.”

The trip to the Church was in our beautiful Rolls Royce Silver Cloud, Mervynia, with the perfect colour theme of red leather seats! Rachael and her Dad had time to themselves en-route to the Church with chauffeur Anna driving them. It was so lovely to listen to the advice and loving words Dad had for Rachael before giving his daughter away, it was very clear that memories of his wedding day were all flooding back to him.

Who gets the gold medal in the wedding Olympics for helping make your day amazing?

“There are so many people who deserve to be on that podium receiving a gold medal, but Anna and the team at Thicket Priory had every inch of detail covered. With their help, we were able to focus on enjoying our day and spending time with the people closest to us. Thank you so much!”

We totally loved watching the photographs on the lawn which was a dream to have outside in the month of November, everyone looked to be having so much fun and I am more than confident that Rachael and Kyle will love and cherish this images forever! Group shots where you have fun really do make for the best photographs because you can see every bit of love shared between each other!

The weather is kind enough to give the newlyweds the opportunity to head for photographs in the bandstand, the garden swing and the sweeping driveway which with it’s autumnal colours was a photographer’s dream!

Celebrating continued in the Ballroom, seated beneath our huge, sparkling chandeliers…the perfect setting for a delicious wedding breakfast with your nearest and dearest around you.
Catering provided by the wonderful Baba Ganoush ensured everyone was fed and watered well, with a feast like vibe on long banqueting tables. This certainly is the best way to feel like a king and queen!

Lots of laughs were had during the speeches with a perfectly executed speech from Best Man Dan…even throwing in an appearance for the legend that is Alan Shearer (as a fellow Geordie I was rather happy with this touch!)

After dinner, guests enjoyed a swift comfort break before dancing in the Ballroom, Sparklers in the band stand and any excuse for a few final pictures of our Bride & Groom is a must! Totally love the Pumpkin heads…super creative and a photo I’m sure will be around in years to come on our October social media!

What was it about your venue that gives it the WOW factor? Would you recommend this venue to other couples?

“The architecture at Thicket Priory is absolutely breathtaking. We were able to visit the venue several times ahead of our big day and with every visit we discovered more magical, hidden gems which made it more and more magnificant. We would without doubt recommed Thicket Priory – it is the most enchanted, dreamy venue I have ever been to. We feel truly blessed this this was our wedding venue!”

The final few pictures I’d love to share with you come from the place of a lover of shoes and dresses! With autumn as hands down my favourite month to get married, I can confirm that justice was definitely given to the beautiful colours that come with it!

Finally, what’s your best advice you could give to couples who are about to tie the knot?

“The day will be over in the blink of an eye so enjoy every single second!”

Thank you for reading, stay safe, stay sane!
Lots of TLC from Anna and Team Thicket xXx
