Taking a Tour of Thicket Priory…

We take so much pride in showing potential couples, events hosts, parents, friends and family around our beautiful venue, and it’s not hard to see why.
For potential couples we arrange venue tours by appointment only, and this is so important because you need more than a fly in visit to see what we have to offer. Our team will ensure that you are taken around the building, with a creative view of imagining just how you can make Thicket Priory your own home. Not everyone has the ability to look at a space and visualise how it would look for say your ceremony or your tables set up for the wedding breakfast, but we’re here to help you with this.

Your first step through the front door, we welcome you as if like old friends, and we invite you to make yourselves at home.

A few words from one of our lovely brides; “The way Thicket Priory was described as a venue, like it was your own home and you were inviting your loved ones in to celebrate, really stuck with me, and that is exactly how it felt.” – Kat & Sush, July 2025

The first look at the Grand staircase and the 2 ‘main-character’ chandeliers is one which always goes down well. The beautiful arrival area offers to warm welcome, coated with grandeur and opulence. It never fails to be an instant hit with your guests!

The Gryffin Bar fast becomes a favourite room for many when exploring Thicket Priory, with a range of beverages from tasty cocktails to a refreshing pint, and plenty 0% choices for anyone not drinking.

We couldn’t have chosen a more perfect venue for our wedding than Thicket Priory. From the moment we arrived, it felt like a home away from home. The house is absolutely stunning, with every room beautifully decorated, making it the perfect backdrop for our big day. It’s not just a venue, it’s a place where you can truly make memories, relax, and feel at home for the entire weekend.” – Emma & George, May 2025

One of the many luxuries we have on offer at Thicket Priory is the wide range of ceremony spaces, so you can choose where you would like to say ‘I Do’. From indoors to outdoors, religious to non-religious, short and sweet or packed with readings and singing…your options are endless. Need some more inspiration, check out our “Guide to Ceremony Spaces at Thicket Priory”HERE.

This venue was perfect for us as we had family coming from everywhere so the many rooms were perfect! It also created the atmosphere of exactly what we wanted, a home away from home feel having a wedding centred around, family, love, happiness and joy!!
With the many places to get married we could easily have plan B’s for bad weather and also have lots of places to host lots of events throughout the wedding weekend.” – Aaishah & George, May 2025

We realise that décor, styling and the general task of picking a theme for your wedding can be very overwhelming, it will come to some naturally, while others may not know where to start. We encourage you to add you ‘signature’ to Thicket Priory while you are here, so your guests instantly feel surrounded by elements of your ‘home’ and ‘personality’. For those needing a little helping hand with inspiration, you might want to follow our Pinterest page HERE.

You’re able to access the venue with time to set-up and settle in before your guests arrive, meaning that you feel stress free throughout!

As far as accommodating your guests is concerned, we’ve got that covered! With 35 (actually 36) bedrooms, plus some additional children’s beds and cots which can be added you’re able to house between 70-80 guests over night during your celebrations. The biggest win on this front is eliminating the ‘fear of missing out’.

The bedrooms are beautiful and all of our guests said they had such a comfortable stay. The crisp/neutral design of all the event spaces means you can put your own mark on the space, and it really does feel like its yours for the time you are there.

If you want a place that feels romantic, grand but cosy, has traditional touches but with a modern twist, Thicket is your venue.” – Lily & Matt, April 2025

We had guests travelling from all over the country and abroad and all commented on how beautiful Thicket was – many saying they’d never seen a better wedding venue (which we obviously agree with!). A large part of why we were initially drawn to Thicket was the idea of being able to host a wedding weekend, with 70 guests staying for both the Friday and Saturday night. Our guests were all very impressed with the quality & size of their rooms, and all are finished to an amazing standard.” – Dan & Rachael, July 2024

Our advice for all couples looking to book their wedding venue (apart from “book Thicket Priory”), is to be fully happy with all your indoor spaces, because we are after all in Britain, so the weather can be unpredictable to say the least. But of late, this can be said for the whole of Europe! So why not bring your destination wedding to the Yorkshire Countryside.

Our scenic gardens are a stunning part of your stay with us, during any season they bring beauty, tranquillity and the most AMAZING backdrops for your photographs. Joe & Faye embraced a walk around the lake to capture these insane images above.

The venue itself is so stunning we got so many compliments from our guests on all the little extra details that made the weekend so special. It was so lovely for our guests to be able to take a walk across the grounds the morning of our wedding and to do the Thicket quest throughout the weekend!” – Izzy & Rupe, December 2024

Kat & Sushi who we heard from earlier in the blog enjoyed a multi-day wedding here with us in July 2025, staying with us for three nights, check it out below…

There is a reason this wedding venue has only 5-star reviews. From the moment we first visited Thicket Priory, we knew it was something special. We had toured other venues, but Thicket Priory ticked every single box—and then some. So that day we made our decision and cancelled the rest of our visits! Every single detail and thought to this place is perfect. In quoting the words of many of our guests, “most beautiful wedding venue ever.”” – Shayna & Sam, March 2025

If a visit in person isn’t possible because you’re overseas and planning a destination wedding, we are able to arrange a video call and can explore the ENTIRE venue from the comfort of your sofa using our fabulous 3D virtual map…giving you access to every corner of venue.

As you can see the importance of an appointment only viewing, and also one-to-one viewings is because we have so much we need to show and tell you!

Time to book in for a visit or a virtual tour, drop us an email [email protected], or if it’s easier the team are available via WhatsApp 07943 96 0014.

Here’s a little video to finish this blog, to see everything come to life for one of our beautiful couples, Shayna & Sam, March 2025.
