You’re engaged! Here’s What To Do Next…

We realise that this is most likely the first time you have planned a wedding and we know it can often feel very overwhelming as to where to start. Our team is here to help you along your wedding planning process and make sure it stays as fun and as stress free as possible!

If you are wondering where to begin then please read on for our top tips and the key factors that we would recommend you consider before booking your wedding venue…

Ceremony
One of your biggest decisions to make is choosing your ceremony location. We have three beautiful ceremony spaces for you to choose from, and depending on your personal preference and the style of ceremony you are dreaming of, we are sure that one of the three will be your dream location.

Our on-site Chapel has such a rich history with its beautiful stained-glass windows and is able to seat up to 120 guests. Whilst you cannot marry with a registrar in our Chapel, you can have a Celebrant led ceremony. Celebrants are able to create bespoke ceremonies with every aspect personalised; from the music and readings to the vows themselves, making them incredibly unique to each individual couple. The Chapel is perfect for those who wish to have a religious ceremony including religious readings and hymns however also for those who would like a Chapel setting but without any religious significance.

Our Morning Room is a beautiful neutral space with huge windows that fill the room with gorgeous light. The space can hold up to 160 guests sat between the lower section and the top section – this is perfect as anyone sat in the back row still has a really great vantage point.

Within out vast gardens you have two options for an outdoor ceremony location; either at our bandstand overlooking the orchard or with the lake as your backdrop – there’s something just so romantic about an outdoor ceremony!

Both the Morning Room and The Gardens are licensed spaces where you can legally marry with a registrar. We fall within the jurisdiction of Selby Registry office and so they will take care of you for your legal ceremony however you do have the option to choose a celebrant should you wish to opt for a more personal style ceremony.

You can find our list of recommended celebrants HERE.

We do recommend getting in touch with either Selby registry office or your chosen celebrant before confirming your date with your venue so that you can check they have your preferred ceremony time available.

Catering
Another important decision to consider before securing your date is choosing your caterer.

All catering is provided by one of our preferred caterers and is an additional cost to the venue hire. We work with a handpicked small selection of local caterers to ensure you have high quality cuisine and service, in-keeping with what we offer as an in-house team here at Thicket Priory…

● Purple Chili Events Catering
● The Hog & Apple Food Co.
● Nomad Catering by James Brown
● Homegrown Hospitality

Whichever of our distinguished local caterers you choose you can be assured they use the finest locally sourced produce to create experiences you won’t forget! Whether you choose from a range of individual dishes or ask for the teams to create your own bespoke menu, the results will be equally spectacular.

Suppliers

A further thing to consider prior to booking your venue and securing your date is choosing your photographer. If you have your heart set on a particular photographer then you may want to confirm their availability before securing your wedding date so that you can choose a date where you can have both your dream venue and dream photographer. Photos are such a huge part of your wedding and so make sure you are happy with the style and aesthetic of your chosen photographer and most importantly that they make you feel at ease so that you are able to feel confident and comfortable in front of the camera!

You are more than welcome to find and bring your own photographer but we do have our Friends of Thicket which can be found HERE. These are suppliers who have worked with us before and who we love with the extra benefit that they already know our venue really well…
