REAL WEDDING: HELEN & JOSH – MR & MRS HAYES EST. 22nd JANUARY 2022

Helen and Josh are the perfect example to showcase the beauty of winter weddings here at Thicket Priory, the frost and the darker evenings during the colder months help to create the perfect cosy atmosphere for your ‘home away from home’ experience.

Our beautiful building is truly a blank canvas for you to make your own. Helen and Josh chose to add some personal décor elements throughout the building for their wedding. With the addition of the tartan ribbon in the chapel to decorate the pew ends and also tying off Helen’s bouquet, as well as photo frames on the grand staircase. These touches emphasised the feeling of home and added to the cosy atmosphere of the building. Their chosen décor was classic and neutral, and so made the red from the tartan a pop of colour in amongst the green and white flowers.

My favourite moment from their wedding has got to be Helen’s dad’s reaction after seeing her in the Buckingham Suite for the first time – it is special moments like these that make weddings so lovely to be a part of.

Helen and Josh chose to marry in our on-site chapel, which offers an abundance of warm natural light, and with the stained-glass windows it provides the perfect backdrop for you to tie the knot in a celebrant-led ceremony; it is also a great option for if you wish to have a church-style wedding.

It is important that you feel comfortable with your photographer so that they can capture every special moment of you being yourselves in front of the camera, and Carla, as always, managed to get some lovely pictures of Helen and Josh. There are always moments captured that you may not remember during the day but are really special to look back on when you receive your photos!

Despite it being January, and the weather being fairly frosty, they still managed to get out and explore the grounds and get some gorgeous photos in the gardens and on the bridges. Thicket Priory offers so many photo locations, and whether it be indoor or outdoor, your photographer will be able to capture so many wonderful moments of your wedding day.

Helen and Josh’s guests all checked in on the Friday afternoon and stayed through until the Sunday morning. Making a weekend out of your wedding celebrations and having all your loved ones under the same roof for that time means you can extend the celebrations and make the most of having everyone together. It also gives you more time to spend time with all your close friends and family, as your wedding day will feel as though it flies by!

A little note from the couple themselves…

“We just wanted to say thank you again, to you and to everyone at Thicket Priory that made our weekend so special. We’ve just received the photos from Carla and we’re wishing we could do it all over again!

From the first time we saw Thicket we knew we didn’t need to look anywhere else and we fell in love, it was the perfect place and the perfect day. Thank you for making sure everything ran smoothly and for just being there exactly when we needed you and for helping us make memories that will last a lifetime!

Everyone that came has said how lovely the venue was, how wonderful the staff were and how much they enjoyed the day!

So thank you and thank you again because we’re not sure we can say it enough – you really helped us make it special.

All the best,

Josh and Helen”
