The Venue
“From the moment we drove up the driveway to Thicket Priory on our first visit, we knew we had found something truly special. Thicket is a wedding venue like no other – a stunningly beautiful location that also feels like home. It provided the most magical backdrop for our weekend celebration, having exclusive use of the venue for the entire weekend allowed us the time to create memories with our loved ones that we will cherish forever.
Having separate spaces to host our guests on the Friday vs the wedding day on the Saturday was brilliant. Every single guest felt truly welcomed, with many commenting on how blown away they were by the venue.
As our wedding fell on the 30th Nov / 1st Dec weekend, we also got to experience the added magic of Thicket’s Christmas decorations. They were beautiful and added an extra layer of sparkle and magic.
Each of the bedrooms felt luxurious – like they belong in a boutique hotel! Each has its own personality and quirks, which made assigning them to our guests a fun task.”

“We could not have dreamed of a better venue than Thicket Priory. As soon as we took the tour, we struggled to imagine getting married anywhere else. The building and the grounds are so stunning – they strike the perfect balance between grandiose beauty and home comforts. However, we have to say that it was all the little magical details that really made it for us. We were already thinking about theming the wedding around the fantasy books that we both love but seeing what Thicket had to offer really solidified this idea. “Becca – I don’t even know what to say except for how did we get so lucky!! I knew instantly that we were in the best hands during our first phone call, she didn’t bet an eye when I showed her my wedding bible!
She calmed me down when I got overwhelmed before the wedding, she was always available through phone, texts, and emails, no request was too big or too complicated (and that’s how we ended up with a skip to smash crockery on Friday evening). When it started pouring down 5 minutes before our ceremony, she stayed calm and got everything and everyone inside. Seeing her during the weekend always calmed my nerves and so many of our guests came up to me afterwards to say how amazingly smooth everything went, and that is thanks to Becca!

“Now onto Becca- honestly I cannot put our gratitude into words. She really was an angel. From the planning all the way through to the wedding day itself she was just wonderful. Nothing was too much trouble at any point and we really felt as though she cared. The boys all got wax down the entirety of their suit jackets after the ceremony and without me even knowing- she had taken them all away and by some miracle got every bit of wax off them. It felt like having an additional friend and she just became one of the girls. She honestly made Thicket for us and they are so lucky to have her!”

To Lil in particular, we had no clue what the job description of a wedding coordinator was and honestly, we probably still don’t because of how much you go above your role responsibilities. You supported us in so many ways that meant so much – you managed the timeline, you set up our champagne tower, did a content creation video, you made sure we got our own space and even managed Sam’s dad. “This is a venue that has thought of literally everything. We were complimenting them, our guests were complimenting them and even our suppliers were complimenting the amazing hospitality that they had received, way beyond what they were used to.
Nothing was too much trouble, we had so many comments about how a member of the team had seemed to appear out of nowhere to assist when anyone needed anything. We also used quite a few of Thicket’s recommend suppliers and literally would not have changed a single thing about our weekend. While so many people played a part, Thicket and the team really were core that made everything possible and for that we really will be eternally grateful. “A lot of guests commented on the venue staff in particular and how it really did feel like fairies were magically sorting everything around us without ever being seen. Everyone felt relaxed and well-cared for. Minor issues like swapping of rooms or getting an extra glass of alcohol-free prosecco for a bridesmaid were dealt with easily and with minimal fuss. Many people told us it was the best wedding they had ever been to and that they wanted to steal the venue for themselves!

From the moment we walked in to Thicket, we knew that Anna was fabulous. Anna was with us every step of the way, nothing was too much trouble, no matter the questions, queries or worries that we had. Max was so good with our oldest son, he was able to ‘work’ behind the bar. Pouring non alcoholic drinks. It really made his weekend that he could do something grown up. It was lovely to see Max taking him under his wing and allowing him to make such special memories.”

FAQ’s
What is the backup plan in case of bad weather?
If you are planning to have an outdoor ceremony, we always have a plan B in case of any showers or bad weather – you choose one of our indoor ceremony spaces as your back up, either the Chapel or the Morning Room – and we decide the day before, based on the weather forecast and what you would be most comfortable to do, where your ceremony will take place.
Are there any noise or music restrictions?
We don’t enforce a noise limiter at the venue, but we do have a license that means live music needs to be finished by midnight.
Are we required to use certain vendors, or can we use our own?
You do have to choose from our list of preferred caterers, just so we can ensure the quality and service, as well as their knowledge of the venue, is as high as what we offer – other than that, you are welcome to bring whoever you want. If you are struggling to find local and reliable suppliers, we do have our ‘Friends of Thicket Priory’ list here for you to have a look at.
