As we reflecat on the predicted trends for last year – dress changes, disco balls and statement wedding aisles, all of which were featured in weddings here at Thicket – we envisage what will be cropping up in 2025.
Whether you’re in the process of planning your big day, or just looking for inspiration, we’ve rounded up some of the trends that are set to define weddings in the year ahead…
Sustainable Weddings
Sustainability is set to continue to be a major theme in weddings this year. Couples are becoming more environmentally conscious – from biodegradable confetti (all confetti at Thicket Priory is required to be biodegradable) to locally sourced, seasonal flowers – there are countless ways to reduce your weddings’ environmental impact.
Many couples are also opting for reusable or preloved décor, such as vintage vases for flowers, or handmade items.
Lucy and Marcus, who married with us in October 2024, wanted their wedding to be as sustainable as possible – Lucy’s dress was second-hand, and all the table decorations were from her parents’ garden…

Smaller Weddings
While large weddings will continue to be present, this year couples will lean towards smaller, more intimate celebrations (of around 60-70 guests) as they choose to invite only their closest friends and family. Thicket Priory is great for weddings this size, with it being exclusive use and having on-site accommodation. It offers the perfect backdrop for a weekend spent with your nearest and dearest. We also have the option, if you choose to have a celebrant-led ceremony, of having your legal ceremony the night prior – which can be for as little as two people, who will be your witnesses.
Lucy and Kieran, who married with us in November 2023, chose to have a night prior legal ceremony in the Morning Room – a great way to start their wedding weekend, surrounded by their closest friends and family.

Outdoor Ceremonies
The Bridgerton moment is still living on in 2025 – outdoor ceremonies, garden receptions, and woodland-inspired settings will be seen throughout this year. Thicket Priory’s vast gardens and grounds provide the perfect location for the couples who want to say ‘I Do’ surrounded by nature. You have the option of either the front lawn or the Bandstand for you to hold your ceremony, both providing beautiful backdrops for you to marry.

Bold & Colourful Themes
While the ‘white wedding’ theme will always be relevant, couples are choosing to add more colour into their wedding décor, with bright florals and jewel tones coming more into play.
Thicket Priory provides the perfect blank canvas for you to make the venue your own, so whether you do choose to stick to the traditional black and white theme, or decide to opt for a more colourful vision, the end result will be perfect.

Wedding Weekends
Thicket Priory is the perfect venue for extending the celebrations and hiring it out for the whole weekend, with on-site accommodation for 75, and the space for a relaxed, intimate night prior meal with your closest friends and family – whether it be a BBQ on the terrace in Summer or sitting by the fire in Winter. You can even choose to host a pub quiz or have some lawn games for people to enjoy over the duration of the evening.

Whether you’re wanting to include these trends in your wedding or have a completely different vision for your big day, Thicket Priory offers the perfect setting for you to bring your dream wedding to life.
