1 – The Team (No.1 Mention!)
We would not be Thicket Priory without the incredible team of people behind the scenes, they create the brand that is Thicket Priory. From our commander and chief Bruce, to each and every ‘department’, we work together to deliver the most amazing experience for everyone who walks through the front door! From maintenance and housekeeping, to front of house and admin, there is so much to do and we love (nearly) every minute of it! Sometimes the aftermath of a good celebration needs a little more grit to get through the day!!

“Thicket Priory is just breath taking. The venue, the grounds, everything about it is so lovely. There’s so many little parts to the house that make it magical, it’s one of those places that you miss once you leave.
We always set out with the dream of creating a weekend that people would enjoy, that we could celebrate outside with all our family and friends…. We have lots of little people within our close circle so it was important to find a venue that could accommodate them and that we could find ways of entertaining them too….. And we sure did that, the gardens were amazing, exploring the house with a scavenger hunt was fab fun….from the youngest (18months) to the oldest (97yrs old) everyone loved the different aspects of what Thicket had to offer, and we sure tried to make the most of them all.
We fell in love with the place from the moment we first visited. And knew it was the venue for us.
The team there are just magnificent….. Jess was nothing short of amazing….always so easy to contact, friendly and helpful. And throughout the weekend Jess was pure magic, especially with the kids who just loved her and followed her everywhere. She has particularly made a huge impact on our daughter who absolutely loves her.
All the team, behind the scenes who work hard to keep the magic of the venue alive whilst you are there, are fantastic. Nothing is too much trouble.
It’s a venue you fall in love with so easily and it captivated us from the second we found it. It’s a truly special place with a special team of people who really do look after you whilst you are there with them.”

2 – Bedrooms…Accommodation at Thicket Priory
With accommodation for up to 70 guests, plus a few little ones, we provide the ultimate destination for your wedding. Whether you are exploring the idea of a winter wedding with homely family vibes, or a celebration in the Spring/Summer with a full blown party at the heart of your wedding theme, we have everything you need. The biggest bonus is your resident guests do not have to grapple with the dreaded FOMO (fear of missing out for those who aren’t familiar with the term). Being able to stay the whole duration of the celebrations means you will not miss a moment of fun!

3 – Attention to Detail
There is a rather special brain behind the detail of Thicket Priory, and it belongs to our wonderful owner Bruce. He has put years of blood, sweat and tears into what you see today, never going half tilt at any project. He likes to ensure that everything has a story or is the perfect fit for it’s purpose, from the old original house keys which are now a beautiful piece of art; to the fairy doors and the stories behind the name of each bedroom, no detail is forgotten.
“It’s taken us 6 months to find the right words to write this review. We first found Thicket as it was being renovated and we’re absolutely blown away by its potential from the moment we saw it.
3 years and a pandemic later Thicket didn’t disappoint and had bloomed into the beautiful, luxurious venue we knew it would be. The attention to detail to the Priory, the accommodation and the grounds is second to none- it has the perfect blend of history and modern luxury
Even more uniquely the staff at Thicket are unrivalled in their attention to detail and friendliness. From Zoe when we first looked round in 2018 to Anna we were so looked after. The stress of the unknown with Covid was minimised by their care and attention to us as a couple. Anna was always at the other side of a Zoom or email if we needed her and made the whole process as stress free as could possibly be on the lead up.
On the weekend of the wedding, once again staff were phenomenal. You could feel the warmth from the moment you stepped in- everyone was smiling and had a great team spirit. Our guests had the most amazing time and were blown away by the venue and the hospitality experienced over the 2 days.
Our only regret is not booking a 3 night stay- it would’ve been worth every penny.
We’re so thankful for Thicket Priory and the team for giving us our dream wedding, words can’t realistically express our gratitude.”

4 – “Beautiful…”
I think I’ll let Charlotte explain this one…
“Thicket Priory was the wedding venue of our dreams!! From the moment we got engaged and started to look at wedding venues we knew it was the one for us. The venue itself is absolutely stunning, from the beautifully decorated rooms to the quirky little touches such as the pantries and sowing rooms, it just has the most magical but homely feel.
The grounds are equally as beautiful and our guests thoroughly enjoyed exploring these on the morning of the wedding. Anna and the team were another major factor in why this wedding venue is so wonderful. Anna is so warm, friendly and makes you feel totally at ease throughout the whole wedding planning process. The Thicket Priory team worked so hard throughout the whole wedding weekend and nothing was too much trouble.
Our guests were blown away with Thicket Priory, and even though it is over 2 months since our wedding day, we are still receiving comments about how beautiful it was and how great all the staff were. Words cannot describe how perfect Thicket Priory is and we never wanted our wedding weekend to end!”

5 – The Lake
There’s something romantic about a lake in the stunning setting of an English garden, a lovely little quote that I love is “If there is magic on this planet it is contained in water” Loren Eiseley. The lake at Thicket Priory can be walk around in 10 minutes, however you could take an hour to soak up the beauty of the surroundings. With three bridges, all unique in their own way, it feels like a short therapy session when you visit the shores!
“I have worked as a hair and make-up artist at Thicket Priory now on many occasions. I find the bridal suite to be the best I have ever worked in! There is so much space and the light is amazing, which is absolutely perfect to get a bridal party ready. I think the bridal preparation part of the day is one of the most special moments so it is so important to have an immaculate and beautifully decorated room as a backdrop for those all important photos.
The grounds at Thicket Priory are also stunning, with a lake and a swing, like something from a fairy tale!
The staff make you feel so welcome that you almost feel at home, a very grand home of course!”
6 – The Gardens
Set in 18 arces of Yorkshire Countryside, surrounded on the North, South and East by a world renowned nature reserve the word tranquil is very appropriate for the gardens. From the mighty oak trees found in the front field to the even mightier oak in the gardens, it’s fair to say that we have some very old residents here at Thicket Priory. Tallest tree award goes to our California Redwood, which is home to the Thicket Priory fairies!

All of the rooms which we explored were very nicely decorated and each room has its own unique features and quirks. Each bedroom is gorgeous with the guests’ comfort in mind at every point, the cutest little pantries are the best!!
The grand hall and wedding / event areas are very well thought through and are a lovely back drop for anyone’s special day.
The history of the priory only adds further to the charm and has a certain romantic feel to it.”
