Disco balls galore, stunning winter florals and an *iconic* first dance … Rebecca and Andrew had their fairytale wedding at Thicket Priory back in January.
Read on to hear more from the bride and groom themselves…
So how did you meet Mr/Mrs Right?
We met whilst on holiday in Fuerteventura during lockdown. Neither of us were meant to be there! We stayed at the same hotel and met on both of our second nights at the bar and have been pretty inseparable since.
When did you know they were ‘the one’/ how did they pop the question?
Andy proposed whilst walking our dog on our favourite beach in Anglesey. It was just us and effortlessly perfect.
What was the biggest MUST HAVE for your wedding?
Space for all of our family and friends to be with us for a weekend to celebrate
Did you go to a lot of wedding fairs? How did they help you decide the overall vibe for your special day?
We didn’t go to any! I’ve had my wedding planned in my head since I was about 15, I just needed the perfect venue!
How did you find THE dress to say ‘I do’ in?
I was super apprehensive about dress shopping as I had given birth 7 weeks before my first appointment. I tried on my dress and instantly fell in love with it, I felt amazing in it and the reaction from my mum, sister and stepmom when they saw it for the first time confirmed it was the one!
How did you pick the perfect photographer/videographer to capture your day?
Our photographer was my bridesmaid Pippas photographer when she got married a few years before and I loved how relaxed Lauren had made us all feel. Her style of photography was perfect for us so I knew she was the one
When I found James on insta I knew I wanted him to be our videographer, he focuses a lot on the build up to I do in his films and they always feel so intimate and personal to the couple which was important to us for ours.
Other than saying ‘I do’ what is the most unforgettable moment from the day?
Having our almost 1 year old son at the back of our chapel during our ceremony, laughing and fake coughing to get attention. It worked! We were all laughing with him!
Who gets the gold medal in the wedding olympics for helping make your day amazing?
Without a doubt it’s Becks. I get so emotional when I think about how instrumental Becks was during our planning and obviously throughout the weekend. Thicket is the most incredible venue but the team are something else, real life angels. She is now forever part of our family!
Which supplier was a real stand out for you? The unsung star who deserves a special mention.
Lauren our photographer, she was amazing at keeping me calm. When I was alone with my step dad waiting to walk down the aisle she helped steady my nerves. She was there when I changed to my second dress again keeping me calm and in check. She is brilliant. Plus our photos are so special and something we will forever cherish.
Out of 10, how involved was your partner in the planning process? Did this help with your planning process?
Erm can I say 1?! Andy’s words always were ‘I trust you babe’ whenever I asked him a question about wedding planning. It definitely made my job easier as I knew I could just crack on and get things done!
What was it about your venue that gives it the WOW factor? Would you recommend this venue to other couples?
I genuinely don’t know where to start with answering this. I remember driving down the drive to Thicket and thinking this is it, this is our venue. I hadnt even been inside! Seeing the Chapel made me want to cry, I really wanted a church style wedding and the chapel gave us that. The bridal suite is the most amazing room to get ready in. The ability to have all of our guests together. The grounds, the decor, the team. The list is endless.
I would and do recommend Thicket. If you want to have the wedding of your dreams magnified, then Thicket is the place for you.
How did you style your venue? Did your wedding day have a theme?
The theme for our wedding was disco balls, candles and dinosaurs! Our florist Bethan was also our stylist and she did the most incredible job with our brief!
As it was late Jan I wanted a cosy feel with lots of candle light during the day and then a full party vibe for the evening. The dinosaurs were just an added extra!
What’s your funniest memory from the day?
My husband and I dressed in giant inflatable T-Rex costumes and came out to the Jurassic Park theme tune during our evening do. We loved it!!
Finally, what’s your best advice you could give to couples who are about to tie the knot?
Forget what’s on trend for the wedding season and do what feels right for you as a couple. Your wedding should be a reflection of the two of you. Enjoy every moment of your day, it goes by so quickly! Try to steal some time together just after your ceremony too!
