Real Wedding at Thicket Priory – James & Georgina

It’s always a joy to share with you one of our couple’s beautiful wedding day and today even more so. There are thousands of couples across the UK that have had to postpone their weddings due to the covid-19 pandemic and my heart goes out to couples who had their wedding booked this summer.

For couples who had their heart set on a summer wedding and have had to move it to later in the year, fear not!! You can still have your dream wedding! Georgina and James are a fantastic example of how a winter wedding does not mean doom, gloom and Christmas colours.

When asked what their biggest must have for the venue was, Georgina said “somewhere big enough to fit all their friends and family.” With 35 bedrooms all under the same roof, Thicket Priory is not only big enough to hold the 180 guests that attended the wedding day, it slept nearly half of their nearest and dearest the night prior and the night after for a wedding weekend! 70 of the guests arrived the day before the wedding and enjoyed a pub quiz in the bar and Wagyu beef burger van for dinner before retiring to their rooms.

So juicy!

The big day started with personalised nightgowns, hair by Kuki Spa, makeup by Clare Flint Makeup, and breakfast in the bridal suite for Georgina and her bridal party, courtesy of Baba Ghanoush Catering.

It’s so delightful to witness the love and joy of family and friends on a wedding day – the laughs on Georgina and James’ wedding day were non-stop!

Georgina picked nude pink bridesmaid dresses from Monsoon to compliment her blush wedding gown by Sincerity Bridal and they even had these cute personalised coat hangers!

Georgina and James pulled out all the stops from start to finish – everything was touchingly personal and oh so elegant.

Over in the groom’s suite, the lads were also getting ready…

Yes, men need grooming too!

This is the lovely James getting dressed..

Finishing touches…

Good to go… and there’s still time for a swift one.

Meanwhile, Georgina is dressed and looking stunning!

Georgina and James opted for a chapel ceremony with a blessing in the private Thicket Priory chapel and it was stunning.

The blessing was conducted by the celebrant Penelope Jayne and there were a few happy tears in the chapel.

Georgina and James met at the rugby club and James knew right away that she was the one. Georgina took slightly longer to realise and said “I knew on the day I crashed James’ very nice car and he came straight from work and scooped me up in a hug and asked if I was okay, I knew then nothing else mattered as long as we had each other.”

Because you can only perform blessings in our chapel, the happy couple were whisked off to be legally married in the Jefferson Room while the guests enjoyed a prosecco drinks reception and canapes by Baba Ganoush Catering.

Alongside the prosecco, there was also the couples’ favourite ale set up on a self-service bar which went down a treat!

The whole family looking gorgeous!

James and Georgina supplied the Warrendale Wagyu beef for the wedding breakfast and Baba Ganoush Catering supplied all the trimmings needed to make a warming feast fit for a mid-winter day.

The sports themed cake by Anne Dickinson was quite a show piece! It also featured their beloved dogs. James caught Georgina completely off guard when he proposed on a very early, wet dog walk!

After the first dance, the festivities really kicked off! The Mojos were fantastic and really got everyone in the mood!

The evening food was a mountain of Yorkshire Pudding Pies! Believe me, they’re a game changer – if you haven’t tried one, make it your mission to order some! If you do, please save one for me. Or send a box to Thicket Priory…. Please.

It was a truly magical day and we loved having everyone!

We wish James and Georgina many happy years together.

Until the next blog, take care and hope to see more weddings soon!

Love Flame x
