Meg & Phil – The Hustler’s Winter Wedding!

The weekend before Christmas, there is excitement already in the air due to the arrival of Father Christmas (if you’ve been good!) …what more could you ask for than to be celebrating your wedding surrounded by all your friends and family! December weddings seem to have a heightened sense of togetherness which is so unique.

From the moment we arrived, everything felt special. The venue itself is absolutely stunning—elegant, atmospheric, and full of character—yet it also feels warm, welcoming, and completely yours for the weekend. It truly felt like home, but a fairytale version.

From the moment I met Meg & Phil, I just knew they were going to fall in love with Thicket Priory, and that we were going to have very high energy! Meg doesn’t just like to dance, it is her life, and boy did she bring it! Some of my favourite moments of planning with Meg and Phil was when Meg would have ideas, and Phil would then get a ‘to do list’ of things to make and build! He did make one of the nicest table plans I’ve seen, definitely one to be proud of!

Black tie, gorgeous blush pink tones, plus punches of red and festive sparkle in the décor made for a wonderfully magic weekend, heightening the buzz for Christmas even more!

“Read all about it”…could be heard around the corridors on the morning of the wedding, with fresh of the press ‘Hustler’ magazines being handed around the guests!

OK! Magazine eat your heart out!

The ceremony in the Chapel was hosted as a blessing by Phil’s uncle Dave which was a really lovely touch, making all the more personal for them and their guests. It was a true family affair, with Phil’s sister then taking on the challenge of the wedding cake, and at Christmas what is better than a gingerbread house!!!

Music and dancing played such a big part in the weekend of celebrations, from the Irish bar vibes, to the evening band, followed by DJ, sax and bongos! Oh and we cannot forget the flash mob of Meg herself, with her troop of dancing girls! Mrs Hustler bringing the energy to the dancefloor accompanied by a tune made for her… ‘I’m A Hustla’!
We must also make a special shout out to Meg’s dad for throwing himself into a choreographed father daughter dance!!!

Thicket Priory really is the perfect venue for you to add your signature to, make it your own and really enjoy making the entirety of our gorgeous venue your home! Dancing definitely weaved its way into the celebrations, but so did Phil’s love of rugby, their love of Asti, and of course Meg’s love of a TikTok.

Here’s a few words from Mr & Mrs Hustler…

We were lucky enough to have Thicket Priory exclusively for the entire weekend—two nights with 70 of our closest family and friends staying on site—and it was, without question, the most incredible wedding venue we could ever have imagined.

The staff deserve endless praise. Every single person was friendly, kind, and unbelievably helpful. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and the attention to detail was outstanding. You could genuinely feel how much they care about making your wedding perfect. A special mention has to go to Anna, our wedding coordinator, who was nothing short of sensational. From the build-up to the big day itself, she was calm, organised, reassuring, and completely on it. We honestly could not have done it without her—she made everything seamless and stress-free, allowing us to fully enjoy every moment.

Our guests haven’t stopped talking about how incredible the venue was. The on-site chapel was a huge selling point for us—especially for our December wedding, as no one had to step outside or worry about the weather. Everything flowed beautifully, and the entire weekend felt magical from start to finish.

If you are even considering Thicket Priory—book it. You will not regret it. We genuinely wish we could do it all over again.

Thank you, Thicket Priory, for giving us the wedding of our dreams.

Mr & Mrs Hustler 💍✨”

It was a rather special moment to share with Meg & Phil when they essentially got to ‘pass the baton’ on to me as they were the last wedding of 2025, and I was the first wedding of 2026…needless to say it was an rather emotional farewell when they departed, headed home to get ready for their first Christmas and Mr & Mrs!

Love Anna

FAQs

Is the bar staffed?

Yes we have a fully stocked, fully staffed bar to take care of your beverage needs throughout the weekend.  We also provide a ‘drinks collection’ for your wedding day celebrations, the team can talk you through the options available for this.

Do you provide a turn-down service in the bedrooms throughout our stay?

As Thicket Priory is a ‘home’ rather than hotel, we very much like to ensure guests treat their rooms as ‘home’ also, so we do not go in guests rooms for turn-down services, unless this is pre-planned with the couple at an additional charge. The fairies do work their magic on the bridal suite during the celebrations to ensure that it is a bridal suite once more, rather than a dressing room when retiring to bed after a day of celebrations.

Is there tea/coffee facilities in the bedrooms?

Simple answer no, but this is because we provide something even better.  There are a number of in-house pantries for guests to access, which feel like a homely kitchen, with access to tea, coffee, hot chocolate…and of course some biscuits to accompany!
