Jamie & Yvonne’s Spring Wedding at Thicket Priory, 20th April 2024

Firstly, we must start by saying happy 1st anniversary to Jamie & Yvonne who celebrated their wedding with us on this day 1 year ago ! I know a blog is digital, but let’s say this is a ‘paper’ wedding anniversary present, something to read and look back on the incredible memories made here at Thicket Priory.

Speaking of the digital world, that is exactly how Jamie & Yvonne begun their wedding journey at Thicket Priory. Back in June 2023 they first viewed our beautiful venue via a virtual tour, guided around the venue using our incredible 3D dollhouse tour of the entire building. It was then a month later they were able to see the venue in person, and then the planning commenced.

Here’s what Jamie & Yvonne had to say about their experience of hosting their wedding celebrations here at Thicket Priory.

“We chose Thicket Priory as our wedding venue and we are so glad we did. The venue was perfect; the 35 en-suite bedrooms were beautiful, spacious and comfortable; the wedding rooms were incredible, with high ceilings and chandeliers. There were a number of pantries which were a great touch and the grounds were great to explore in the sun.

Anna, Lil and the team were outstanding. They managed every little detail and were organised, professional and friendly. They took care of everything on the day and made sure our wedding day was unforgettable and stress-free. We and our guests were blown away by the service, the quality and the atmosphere.

We highly recommend Thicket Priory to anyone looking for a wedding venue. It was worth every penny and more.”

Here’s a few of our favourite photographs captured during the wedding fun, filled with love, laugher, tears, cultural traditions and plenty of confetti!

Now let’s hear a little more from Mr & Mrs Seaford!

So how did you meet Mr/Mrs Right?
We started speaking via a dating app in the pandemic – when everything opened up, we went for a date at the Big Chill bar in Shoreditch. Yvonne moved in with Jamie pretty soon after meeting… and the rest was history!

When did you know they were ‘the one’/ how did they pop the question?
It’s hard to pin point the exact moment, but every moment we spent together felt easy and ‘right’. Jamie proposed in Bali just before a private romantic dinner for two.

What was the biggest MUST HAVE for your wedding?
Fun! We wanted every single person to have a great time and not worry about all the little (and big!) things. The wonderful Thicket Priory team looked after every detail which took the pressure off us and allowed us to have fun!

How did you find THE dress to say ‘I do’ in?
I was debating whether I wanted a wedding dress which wasn’t a wedding dress… i.e. something special which I could wear again. I had a browse around the likes of Harrods, Liberty and Harvy Nichols, but the very next day I went to Wed2B, an off the rack wedding shop and tried on a number of beautiful wedding dresses with my cousin Jefa. They had loads of styles, the staff were really helpful and friendly, and not only did the chosen dress look great, it didn’t break the bank!

How did you pick the perfect photographer/videographer to capture your day?
We looked at photographers in the local area and found Amy Jordison. We liked her editing style (very natural), the vibe she had and had a couple of chats with her and got a great feeling! She had a package with George Holden, the videographer which we went for, which was also great as they worked really well together and were both really professional, friendly and high quality! These guys were the real stand out suppliers for us!

Other than saying ‘I do’ what is the most unforgettable moment from the day?
It has to be our first dance. We aren’t the types of people to do a choreographed dance in public, but it was so fun learning, and doing it on the day. We added a little twist which we didn’t tell anyone about – Yvonne lifted Jamie up! Why should it always be the man who does that?!

Out of 10, how involved was your partner in the planning process? Did this help with your planning process?
We were both equally involved, the wedding is a 2 player game 😉

What was it about your venue that gives it the WOW factor? Would you recommend this venue to other couples?
Anna, Lily and Maggie at the Thicket and also ALL of the staff were brilliant. Words cannot describe the level of detail, organisation and professionalism the team had – every little detail was thought of and looked after at the beautiful Thicket Priory. All of the room shad their own individual touches, the grounds and the swing was loved, the pantries were a brilliant touch… we would go on ! We and our guests were blown away and couldn’t have asked for a better wedding.

Finally, what’s your best advice you could give to couples who are about to tie the knot?
Do what you can and don’t stress or compare your own wedding to others! Every wedding, no matter how big or small is special and it’s your choice how you decide to celebrate.

With love
Anna
