Sarah Walmsley was the Nanny to the Dunnington Jefferson’s six children. Sarah was a caring and compassionate soul loved by all. The children had wonderful lives enjoying the freedom of the grounds, a good education and the best toys available such as steam driven trains, jack in the boxes and beautiful dolls. The nursery was next door in what is now the Vavasour Suite. Every day before supper, the children would be summoned by a bell down the children’s staircase to be inspected by their parents.
