Ever since Valentino’s Pink Fall/Winter 2023 collection, Harry Styles’ Coachella outfit and Sebastian Stan’s Met Gala look, pinks of every hue have been taking over the world of fashion. With Greta Gerwig’s ‘Barbie’ released on Friday – pink is officially the colour of Summer 2023; with Barbiecore reigning supreme everywhere from social media to the red carpet.
Barbiecore has also found its way into the world of weddings in everything from dresses to décor. Whilst the first thought of Barbiecore screams *hot pink and dancing to Aqua’s barbie girl on repeat* there are ways you can incorporate soft elements of Barbiecore into your wedding to add an element of fun and childhood nostalgia without it feeling too overpowering.
From sequinned night prior outfits to dramatic thigh high splits and sparkly heels and even *the* heart sunglasses that seem to be this wedding seasons must-have accessory (because what better excuse to have your main character moment than on your wedding day!) keep reading to find our favourite Barbiecore wedding inspiration…
Chloe and Ollie EST. 8th April 2023
Chloe and Ollie’s wedding in summary: rainbow confetti, *the* heart sunglasses and the coolest moves on the dancefloor… a party Barbie herself would have been dying to attend!
It is so important to feel comfortable with your photographer so that you can be yourselves in front of the camera, Carla has perfectly captured Chloe and Ollie’s electric personalities throughout their whole day.
Amy and Steve EST. 15th April 2023
Amy’s dress has to be one of my favourites this year – the sweetheart neckline, puffy sleeves and princess skirt really captured the signature Barbie vison and just looked so perfect on her.
Pops of colour are a really fun way to lean into the Barbiecore trend through jewel toned flowers or floral accessories for the Grooms and Groomsman – be creative with your styling, and again have fun with your photographs!
Lauren and Tom EST. 21st May 2022
Barbiecore really means any excuse for outfit changes and sparkles. Lauren had three dresses; each one so perfect to suit the occasion. From her night prior sequinned mini dress to the floor length floral tulle skirt for her ceremony and finally her gorgeous evening dress with the dramatic high leg split which was perfect to add a touch of drama for the dancefloor and for *that* Hollywood stair pic on our grand staircase!
Natalie and Lee EST. 16th June 2022
Natalie and Lee opted for a neutral aesthetic, their whole wedding looked like it had fallen straight from the pages of Vogue – very classic and romantic from start to finish.
An equally beautiful take on Barbiecore, Natalie’s dress with its sweetheart neckline, sleeves of dreams (!!) and glittery accessories. She swapped out her veil after their drinks reception and added a glittery headband for their entrance into the Ballroom for their Wedding Breakfast. A really nice and simple way to elevate your Bridal look from your day into the evening celebrations.
Jonny and Vicky EST. 13th August 2022
Jonny and Vicky’s outdoor ceremony at the bandstand has to be one of the most romantic ceremonies we have had. The perfect summers day – their wedding really was like something from a movie. Vicky’s classic silhouette was so beautiful and then with added drama through her veil with its long train and pearl detailing.
Something fun to consider is having a champagne spray like Jonny and Vicky – a chance to take some time alone together and have a bit of fun and enjoy a glass of fizz before re-joining your guests for your evening celebrations.
We have very limited dates left for 2024 and only one weekend left for the Summer season which is Saturday 13th July 2024; if you are dreaming of having your own Barbiecore inspired wedding at Thicket Priory please get in touch HERE.
With love,
Jess xXx
