Couture Wedding Dress; 9 Reasons to go Couture and Design Your Own Wedding Dress

After finding the perfect venue for the big day, the wedding dress, for most people, is next on the agenda. It’s the one dress we want to be perfect! Choosing a couture wedding dress brings a unique and personalised service meaning that the design choices are truly up to you.
Couture in general is a more costly process. However, bear in mind that having a dress made for you will cut out any alterations cost which you may have with an off the peg dress. However, you are getting a one-of-a-kind dress that is made for you. Something that reflects your bridal vision perfectly. There are so many reasons why you should go couture, here are just a few of them…

Individuality
Individuality on your wedding day is the most important thing, and we absolutely live by this in the boutique. Designing your couture wedding dress means that you can express who you are, whatever that may be. It gives you the opportunity to break free of the rules and express yourself and your personality through your design.

It’s Made For You and Your Body
Your wedding dress is one dress that should fit you perfectly. Buying a dress in a standard size can sometimes mean costly alterations. A couture wedding dress is built around you, your likes and dislikes, and can incorporate elements which are important to you for your big day. You shouldn’t have to compromise on comfort due to style.

Matching Up
Colour matching can be a couples worse nightmare when it comes to planning a wedding. If your dress is couture, designers will have access to an array of fabric options and be able to match your veil to perfection giving you a cohesive look.

Handmade with Love
There are hours of time, patience, craftsmanship and love that goes into making a couture wedding dress. For designers, to see the finished gown and a beautiful happy bride, makes it all worth it. I spend up to 18 months with my brides and their families, they become part of the boutique. I feel privileged to be part of their big day, and to create something that is perfect for them.

Adding Sentimental Value
You may want to incorporate something of sentimental value into your dress. Lace of a family member, beading from an heirloom, or something which you have saved for your wedding day. There are lots of ways to do this and speaking with a designer on ideas on how to do this, may make it possible.

Be Your Own Trend
Like in the fashion world there are trends that come from catwalk to bridal manufacturers and it’s not always the most flattering styles for you. Designing a couture wedding dress means you can set your own trend.

Time Frame
Although there are hours of work that goes into couture, many designers offer a 6-month process, depending on how busy they are. Most bridal shops give a 7-9-month time frame for a dress to arrive from the manufacturers. Meaning if you’re short on time there is no need to panic. Plus, the closer the dress is fit to the wedding day, the better it will look!

Keeping it Local
There are so many amazingly talented designers out there with small businesses, from dresses to florists and stationers, who love what they do and want to be a part of your journey.
