A key point to remember for your UK wedding and your photo wedding memories is that your wedding venue choice is key in these times of unpredictable weather. I have photographed a wedding day where we had all four seasons in one day and can say that it is important for the comfort and pleasure for you and your guests that your venue has good inside and outdoor space, of which I’m confident Thicket Priory has just that!!
WINTER
If your skin tends to go a bit blue in the cold, long sleeves are a good idea. If you suffer from red nose, speak with your make-up about colour correcting creams so you can relate about your outdoor photographs.
In terms of colours, most muted warm shades and warm tones of white work well, as do sparkling sequins (they light up your face) and metallics like bronze, gold or copper.
SPRING
Spring is usually still quite cool in the UK so a cashmere wrap is still a good idea if you are a couple who like to feel warm.
Rain is often the main factor to consider so a spare pair of shoes for your outdoors pictures is a good idea, as are big white or cream umbrellas. A white or cream colour umbrella will brighten your face. A coloured umbrella will add that same colour tone to your face.

Outdoors, nature’s colours tend to be the soft white or pink of blossom, bright yellows or reds of daffodils and tulips, or those purple blues of bluebells so you could pick a shade for your flowers to blend in with the season to enhance your wedding photographs even more.
In terms of colours or shades of white to wear, any go at this time of year so of course pick whichever suits you best.
SUMMER
Couples marrying in the summer are often concerned about looking too hot or sweaty. Cool, natural fabrics like cotton and silk are the way to go next to your skin. Avoid body lotion but do spritz some dry spray sunscreen on your exposed skin to avoid sunburn.
If you still want to cover up your arms, light gauzy fabric sleeves on a wedding gown look lovely. If you’re going strapless, avoid tan strap marks and don’t wear a bra on the morning of your wedding. Guys often feel fresher and better for changing into a fresh shirt in the evening and they look far more comfortable in the day with a lightweight suit.
Fake tan in your wedding photographs can look ultra orange in certain light so do have fake tanning done professionally and I definitely recommend a couple of trial sessions beforehand too.
To avoid make up slipping / melting away, use a good make-up setting spray.

AUTUMN
In the autumn months we can have all sorts of weather but I’m going to focus on looking good in the wind. I recommend a trial for both an up and a down hair do with your professional hairdresser as wedding hair in the wind can look either amazing wafting around or just a bit messy, so it’s wise to have the option of up or down on the wedding day itself.
An autumn wedding is often easy to spot in pictures, so I definitely recommend being in keeping with nature in terms of your colours for your outdoors photography for a cohesive look.
On chillier autumn wedding days, a cape or a floaty veil looks amazing, as do the richer shades of browns, ochres and mossy greens.
Candlelight is flattering in any season for your indoor pictures.
