Kasia & Jack – 21st December 2024
It is almost 1 year since we hosted the gorgeous Kasia & Jack for their nuptials at Thicket Priory. This was a wedding celebration with music at it’s heart; from Kasia having some of her music students singing in the ceremony, to a ‘first song’ instead of a ‘first dance’, it just felt magical from start to finish.
Let’s hear from the gorgeous couple, setting the scene for the wonderful winter wedding weekend at Thicket Priory.
…first meeting…
“We met at university 10 years ago, became close friends and after 6 months Kasia finally agreed to a date with me and the rest is history…!” – Jack
…tell us about the proposal…
“Jack planned a trip to the Lake District and surprised me with a stay at ‘Another Place’. We stayed in their amazing shepherds hut, complete with our own private garden and fire pit. After the most wholesome day exploring the lakes, Jack popped the question by the fire pit that evening, a magical moment I’ll never forget!” – Kasia
…tell us a little about what was important for you in the initial stages of planning your wedding…
“Music! From the very start of planning, we knew music would be at the heart of our whole day. The incredible Emily & Simon (@Yorkshire Violinist) played the most beautiful arranged versions of our favourite songs as guests arrived and as I walked down the aisle – we cannot thank them enough. Then came one of the most special moments, a small group of my incredible students sang during our ceremony. It was the most unforgettable and emotional moment and literally the tears did. not. Stop! Something we will never forget!
In the evening, we had the incredible Redwings as our band, who created an electric atmosphere! They even added the most amazing fiddle player to their line-up, giving us the exact vibe we wanted. The evening was just magical from start to finish! And of course we couldn’t resist joining in ourselves. We performed our first song (instead of a first dance) by one of our favourite musicians, and it was such a full circle, special moment for the both of us. My Dad then joined us for another song and by the end all our guests were singing along too, literally the best feeling EVER!”
It’s safe to say the moment when Kasia’s students began to sing, the entire Thicket Priory team were also in tears, it was INCREDIBLE!!! On a personal note as the coordinator for Kasia & Jack I got to know them so well in the planning, and when visiting in the year running up to the wedding it always felt like friends popping by! I get married in 2026, where Kasia & Jack will be singing at my ceremony…and I am so excited that they are!!
Something I always remember from early on in the planning was talking to Kasia about her love of coffee, and I went home with various bean recommendations for my other half who is also a coffee lover…so it was no surprise that Kasia decided to bring along her very own coffee machine for the morning caffeine hit!
…let’s talk about THE dress!
“I went to one shop and it was the first dress I chose…! I honestly did not expect the process to be so smooth, but as soon as I walked into ‘The Whiteyard’ and met the incredible Claire, she made the whole process an absolute dream. Her collection is so special and carefully curated. My mum actually spotted my dress first and as soon as I tried it on, I fell in love with it! We then found out the designer was based in Poland, which is where both my late grandparents were from, which made it all the more perfect. It felt like a piece of them were with us, making it all the more special.” – Kasia
I would also like to take a minute to say how AMAZING Kasia’s Mum, Christina’s, hat was! I mean just check out the photos…as far as Mother of the Bride outfits go, she topped the chart!! Not only did she has style but the talent to create the stunning sculpture which was displayed next to K & J’s wedding cake! What a woman!
What was it about your venue that gives it the WOW factor?
“If you’ve chosen Thicket Priory as your venue, you have made the best choice you could ever make. From the moment we walked into Thicket Priory and met the incredible Anna, we felt right at home. The venue itself is just stunning, the attention to detail is truly like nowhere else around. The onsite chapel is breathtaking and one of our favourite parts of the venue. It is such a special and intimate space and the rest of the building is just as spectacular.
We really wanted a venue that could host the majority of our guests and with 35 beautiful bedrooms, Thicket Priory did just that, which was really important to us.
But what truly makes Thicket Priory stand out from the rest is the incredible team behind it. Anna, our wedding coordinator was nothing short of outstanding and is the definition of ‘above and beyond’. The rest of the team all brought so much joy to the whole experience too, Lil was on hand throughout our day and really is the kindest and loveliest person! Along with the rest of the team like Maggie who just made our day all the more special. Everyone you meet at Thicket Priory is kind, compassionate, and always has the biggest smile on their face. There really aren’t enough words to describe Thicket Priory, it really is a venue like no other and will forever hold a special place in our hearts.”
When a couple are as invested in the venue as we are it is such a pleasure to see them showing their guests around; settling in like their own home and feeling so at ease throughout all the formalities of the celebrations…it makes every bit of hard work worth it! We cannot tell you as a team how wonderful it is to see couples and guests falling in love with every inch of Thicket Priory.
Not only did we put our Christmas decorations up ready for the celebrations, but our house fairies went above and beyond with their bougie ‘Chanel inspired’ Christmas tree.
Who gets the gold medal in the wedding Olympics for helping make your day amazing?
“ANNA! Honestly, there are not enough words to thank this woman, truly an angel in human form. She goes above and beyond for her couples, remembering every tiny detail that you’d never even think of! Anna is kind, personable and so much fun, she made the whole planning experience completely stress free and joyful and all our guests commented on how incredible she was. She runs the day with such precision, yet somehow keeps everything so relaxed, fun and effortlessly smooth, creating the perfect balance. Our wedding day was the most seamless and magical day of our lives and we really cannot thank Anna enough, she really is one in a million. We are so grateful to now call her a friend, one we will always treasure dearly.” – Kasia & Jack
Which supplier was a real stand out for you? The unsung star who deserves a special mention.
“Purple Chilli Events Catering – From our first tasting we knew the food on our day was going to be special, but they truly went above and beyond. The food they served was just incredible, and the presentation of every single plate was outstanding! From our family meal the night prior, to the canapés, the wedding breakfast, the evening food and even breakfast the next morning, every dish was stunning. So many of our guests commented on how amazing the food was! We’re still dreaming about it now.. just hoping we get invited to another wedding where purple chilli are the caterers!!”
Here’s a few unforgettable moments from Kasia & Jack from their wedding day…
“When Kasia arrived at the top of the stairs and I saw her for the Sirst time in her wedding dress, she took my breath away. A moment I’ll never forget.” – Jack“ This is such a hard question. Honestly, there were so many unforgettable moments, I’ll have to pick a few…! Firstly, walking out of the top door in the chapel with my Dad and seeing Jack at the end of the aisle felt completely surreal, such a magical moment.”
We loved the little moment where Kasia waved at Jack from the top of the bridge as if to say ‘hi there’! This was so sweet!!
“Then, as we’ve already mentioned, hearing my incredible students sing during the ceremony literally felt like a movie – absolutely unbelievable.
The first look with my parents and bridesmaids is a moment I’ll cherish forever, and of course our first song and the amazing speeches were so so special too.
So basically… EVERYTHING! But most of all, having all of our favourite people in one room to celebrate our wedding day with so much love, joy and emotion is something I’ll truly never ever forget.” – Kasia
To weigh in on this question I do have to say that one of my favourite details of the wedding was their table plan, created from all their much-loved artists records! Such a clever and simple idea, but it screamed ‘K & J’!!! LOVE!
Out of 10, how involved was your partner in the planning process?
“I would give myself a solid 2.5 out of 10. Kasia has to take all the credit for this one, she planned the most unbelievable day.” – Jack
“Jack was always on hand whenever I needed any help, especially with the little details like bagging up confetti! I was given pretty much free rein on all the decisions which made planning so much easier (although of course, I still made sure he was happy with all the choices!) But all credit goes to him for his incredible speech, the most beautiful and heartfelt words.” – Kasia
Choosing someone to capture the day is such an important part of the wedding, so let us know how you went about this?
“We found our amazing photographer Beth on Instagram, immediately loved her work and her friendly nature and just knew she would be the perfect choice. She then recommended us a list of videographers and as soon as we came across James (Chumley Films) we were obsessed with his work. A dream team who fitted seamlessly into our day and made us feel so so comfortable and at ease. It honestly felt like having two extra friends with us all day, capturing every laugh, tear and special moment perfectly. We couldn’t be happier with the end results either, they both captured our day perfectly and every photo and video takes us right back to the emotion and magic of the day!”
How did you style your venue? Did your wedding day have a theme?
“We were so fortunate to have the incredible decor that Thicket provide as part of their Christmas styling, which was just STUNNING, every detail was magical! Our incredible florist (Mrs Bouquets) created some beautiful arrangements filled with crisp white florals and greens, perfectly dressing the tables, fireplaces and ceremony space. As our whole wedding was themed around music, our table plan was made from records and we called it ‘Kasia and Jack’s Playlist’! Each table was named after one of our favourite artists/musicians, with a record used for each table number! We DIY’ed it all with the help of my amazing Mum (MOB) and Auntie and couldn’t be happier with how it turned out!”
What’s your funniest memory from the day?
“A solid tie between Kasia licking the sharp knife after we cut the cake or her godfather James’ legendary Irish jig / Olympic gymnast routine!” – Jack
Finally, what’s your best advice you could give to couples who are about to tie the knot?
“It sounds cliché but honestly, just enjoy every single minute. Plan a day that feels just like you both as a couple, make decisions that make you excited and have NO regrets! Soak the whole day up and just have the best day ever surrounded by all your favourite people!”
I think K & J have said all that needs to be said. We loved having them here to celebrate their wedding, and we cannot wait to have them back again singing in our Chapel.
Happy paper anniversary as at 21st December 2025!!!!
Merry Christmas & Lots of Love
Anna xXx
