As the end of 2024 is almost here it is great to reflect on the year we have had here at Thicket Priory, from new trends and iconic moments, to intimate celebrations and epic parties, each beautiful memory will be treasured by not only the couples, but our team and all the wonderful industry experts we have worked alongside.
Celebrating our Couples
To say that we have gratitude for each and every couple who have married with us at Thicket Priory during 2024 is an understatement. We cannot say a big enough THANK YOU for trusting us to deliver your stunning celebrations through four seasons of trends, styles, fashions and viral inspired themes!
Now I’m sure you’ll all understand just how difficult it would be for us to choose favour photos, or favourite moments because every wedding has special memories that we’ll treasure…so I thought I’d feature a few from one wedding which was very much a 2024 on trend wedding! (All our other lovely couples, don’t you worry, we blog all year round, your time will come!)

Happy Words from our Couples!
Our couples provide us with so many wonderful words of thanks, so I think it’s only fitting we share some with you to sign off the year. Referring to us at ‘Wedding Wizards‘ this awesome review is from the gorgeous Johanna & Mike who married with us in September 2024:
“Thicket Priory is the wedding venue you never knew you were looking for all along. I think it took Michael and I maybe 20 seconds into our first visit before whispering to each other “we’re getting married here“.
Thicket Priory is the real deal, not only is it stunningly beautiful, you also immediately feel like you’re home. But it’s the people that make it truly magical.
Becca – I don’t even know what to say except for how did we get so lucky!! I knew instantly that we were in the best hands during our first phone call, she didn’t bet an eye when I showed her my wedding bible!
She calmed me down when I got overwhelmed before the wedding, she was always available through phone, texts, and emails, no request was too big or too complicated (and that’s how we ended up with a skip to smash crockery on Friday evening). When it started pouring down 5 minutes before our ceremony, she stayed calm and got everything and everyone inside. Seeing her during the weekend always calmed my nerves and so many of our guests came up to me afterwards to say how amazingly smooth everything went, and that is thanks to Becca!
Becca, you are incredible and I will never be able to thank you enough 🤍
Next to Becca, Lil and Becks never ceased to amaze me. Becks managed to sneak out the kids during the “boring“ bits of the wedding (which I didn’t even notice), but the kids absolutely LOVED it. Lil made sure every single step of my wedding bible was followed, and seeing her tear up during our ceremony just shows you how invested everyone is in making your day perfect.
They say there are fairies at Thicket Priory that work their magic, and that only the kids can see them. But I met at least 3 fairies myself 🧚🧚♀️🧚♂️”
Our Beautiful Venue Throughout 2024
Couples not only book Thicket Priory because of the accommodation on-site, and the amazing team…there are many couples who find themselves drawn to the beautiful detail of the venue itself. With 10 years of renovations before opening in 2019, and then an owner, Bruce who is committed to continual improvements and additions, it is safe to say that photographers find themselves exploring nooks and corners of the building to capture the essence of Thicket Priory as well as the couple and their guests. The most talked about feature of our home is the pantries and the ironing room, always a hit with couples, guests and suppliers.

I’d personally like to express the gratitude I have for having such an amazing team working at Thicket Priory, from the team of coordinators working with couples and our operational team, to our fabulous housekeepers and the team of maintenance/grounds keepers…you all make working such a pleasure, and you all do it with such commitment and love, our brand truly is created by the incredible team who call Thicket Priory ‘Home’! All headed up by our commander and chief Bruce! Thank you team Thicket, you’ve absolutely smashed it out of the park in 2024!
The crowning moment of 2024 that shows just how unbelievably unflappable we are…the beautiful video above from Mr & Mrs Winfield’s wedding day, no one would have ever known that we had a trailer load of chairs take a little trip into the lake! Here’s a little moment from behind the scenes which crowns Maggie as the BEST behind the scenes memory from 2024!
A few ‘Firsts’ in 2024
~ Our first time having a couple’s ‘First Song’ instead of a ‘First Dance’! Pure magic from Kasia & Jack in December 2024.
~ We had not one but two of our first same sex marriages in June of 2024! Andrew & Matt est. 15th June 2024 and Joey & Rob est. 29th June 2024.
~ We had our very first German tradition of breaking porcelain the night before the wedding to bring luck to the couple’s marriage, care of Johanna & Mike.
~ Bongo Bingo finally arrived at Thicket Priory in May of 2024, thanks to Fran & Alex.
~ Alyssa & Leah became our very first transgender wedding here at Thicket Priory in August 2024.
~ We had a couple celebrate not only their wedding after almost 40 years together, but the groom’s 60th all in one weekend.
~ We hosted a fabulous brand event…watch this space for when we get to share this one!
Celebrating Industry Experts at their Best…
We adore what we do here at Thicket Priory, creating and helping bring to life the dreams of each and every couple, but this wouldn’t be possible without the incredible industry suppliers who come along to ensure they have the best florals, photography, catering, hair, make-up, music, entertainment, cakes and much much more…and we wanted to extend a heart felt thank you to you all for working with us in 2024 to show off the best of EVERYTHING!
Looking Ahead to 2025…
Our challenge for 2025 is to see even more wedding trends come to life, where we hope that no request will be too large! Even when we may not have the capability to deliver a specific request, we will work with you to create as close to your request as possible, always making sure that anything we agree to have as part of your celebrations is to the highest of standards, and all the while making sure you have a stress-free wedding planning journey with us!
We cannot wait to celebrate with all those who have just enjoyed their last Christmas before saying ‘I Do’!
