One of the biggest pressures on your wedding day is feeling like you need to be the ‘host’; however here at Thicket Priory our beautiful building becomes the host for you. With our personalised room tags, our Thicket Priory quest and our cosy pantry areas – there are so many spaces to help your guests relax and feel at home.
In particular having a two-day wedding and being able to have all of your closest family and friends under one roof for the whole duration of your wedding means that during your night prior celebrations, your guests can socialise and relax together so that everyone staying has made their introductions before your wedding day. This also gives your guests time to travel the day before your wedding, arrive with us in time for an evening meal in our Old Kitchen and relax knowing that in the morning they just need to get up enjoy breakfast and get ready with plenty of time which takes away lots of stress for them and you!
Often couples also choose to host an activity for their night prior celebration such as a pub quiz hosted by the Groomsmen or toasting marshmallows and karaoke or even axe throwing! There are so many ideas on Pinterest now that if you have your heart set on certain things for you and your guests to enjoy but don’t want to take any time away on your wedding day, having two-days to extend your celebrations gives you more than enough time to have the wedding of your dreams whilst also being able to relax and enjoy yourself too!
“When you choose Thicket, you don’t just choose a ‘wedding day’ you choose a ‘wedding weekend’ and I think that was our favourite memory! From walking through the doors on Friday afternoon, to leaving on Sunday lunchtime …. every moment together and with our nearest and dearest was special! It felt like one big weekend away!
The grandness but also homeliness – You can’t understand this without visiting! The building, bedroom and grounds are so impressive but it also feels like a big home that you’ve hired out for a weekend away! The attention to detail and the decor is exquisite – the bedrooms, the bar or even the bathroom with a ‘bride’ toilet cubicle! A lot of wedding venues we had visited were a bit dated or didn’t have the exclusivity (I had a big thing that I didn’t want members of the public seeing me on my wedding day!) and Thicket just ticked every box. So many venues gave us a list of ‘rules’ or ‘no cans’ and Thicket staff went out of their way to let us have the champagne tower of dreams and a vodka luge …. one big party, centred around our wedding!
We had the December wedding of our dreams at the dream venue with the dreamiest staff. We cannot write enough about how Thicket makes you feel and how you can create the wedding of your dreams with such ease – I feel very jealous of the future Winter Thicket couples as we know what an amazing wedding they are going to have!”

My husband & I got married at Thicket in May 2022 and Thicket Priory gave us the best day of our lives.
From the planning process to the big day itself they were so helpful and a pleasure to deal with.
We hired the venue for two nights which was the best decision. All of our guests commented on how gorgeous all the rooms were and how amazing & kind the staff were.

“Everyone says that their wedding day was the best day of their lives but ours really was and we got to do a full weekend of it! From getting legally married on the Friday with just our immediate family, to having an amazing day of celebrating with all our friends and family, to catching up with everyone the morning after.
We viewed so many venues that were empty spaces without any personality. We loved that Thicket Priory has small details everywhere and we didn’t need to do much to the venue for it to feel so special!
