4 Real Weddings to Inspire the Winter Season

As each season passes we re-fall in love with the details that make each season so unique and special. Choosing the season for your wedding can be a difficult decision but can also inspire the choices you make for your day ~ from your colour palette to your menu choices to your outfits!

In today’s blog we are going to be looking at 4 of our past winter weddings which showcase why Thicket Priory is the perfect venue for a romantic winter wedding…

“Thank you for making all of our dreams come true; from check-in to check-out everything has been exceptional and overly exceeded our expectations!”

Mr and Mrs Hart est 16th November 2021

Winter is the perfect season to add a bit of sparkle to your décor; candles and fairy lights are ideal to create a cosy warmth around the venue. We have a variety of LED candles that you can use, all you need to do is bring the batteries! Having glittery hair accessories for the bride and bridesmaids is also a nice way to add a bit of winter magic to your outfits.
During late November and December, we decorate Thicket Priory with our own Christmas decorations. We have a beautiful tree in the entrance and garlands up the grand staircase and in the bar area. This means that some of the décor has already been done for you and so you won’t have to worry about dressing the whole venue!

“Thank you so much for making our wedding weekend so perfect. We could not have chosen a more perfect settings for our wedding. Our guests were blown away by how magical Thicket Priory was and we wish we could move in!”

Mr and Mrs Minshall est. 18th December 2021

The winter months are the coldest time of year with a higher chance of rain, sleet and even sometimes snow! Be mindful of your guests traveling to your venue and the delays that the weather could bring. At Thicket Priory, you and your guests can stay the night before and the night of your wedding which means that there will be no worry of guests arriving late on your wedding day. Having a two-day wedding also means you can extend your celebrations as one-day just goes so quickly!
We have two indoor ceremony spaces here at Thicket Priory – our Morning Room and our Chapel. Having the option of both spaces on site means that no matter what style of ceremony you are dreaming of having, guests will not have to brave the cold by travelling back and forth for your ceremony on your wedding day.

“We just wanted to say the BIGGEST thank you for the best weekend of our lives! I know other people say it ( but we never really believed them!!)! But now we do! Thicket felt even more magical than when we looked round, there is something really special about it at Christmas and I honestly couldn’t imagine not having our wedding at Thicket in winter now! Jess and the team were incredible, Maggie and Becca kept that bar alive and it literally felt like we were in a romantic country pub on Friday night! Thank you for accommodating all of our requests – all of our guests had the best weekend and that is why we chose Thicket!”

Mr and Mrs Summons est 17th December 2022

Dark hues such as berry red, burgundy and emerald green work so well this time of year with being the ‘traditional’ winter colours however do not let this put you off from opting for an alternative colour scheme. Our Ballroom with its neutral setting allows for you to choose any colour theme and aesthetic for your décor; whether that be a winter wonderland, 1920s Gatsby or something completely different!

“We just wanted to say a huge thank you for making our wedding weekend so memorable and amazing. I can’t tell you how many of our guests thought it was the best wedding they had ever been to. Praise indeed for you and the team there at Thicket Priory.

Thanks also for all the little touches; from helping to make the ‘post box table’ look fabulous; the extra Christmas trees and snow; looking after Steve and I throughout the weekend; the Team singing Merry Christmas in the Chapel; the framed picture of the Priory and for giving Phil a lift to the station. In fact there were too many to mention.”

Mr and Mrs Haley est 10th December 2022

We have lots of cushions and cosy blankets to keep you and your guests warm so that you can still enjoy the terrace and gardens. As the night draws in, we also have a firepit where you can toast marshmallows, with hot chocolate for the children and mulled wine or a spiced apple toddy for the adults!
With the nights being darker, Winter is the perfect season to have a sparkler send-off on the terrace or near the bandstand which creates the most magical photographs!

If you are looking to book our beautiful venue for your own fairy-tale wedding, get in touch HERE and we will be happy to help in any way we can to create your perfect day!
With love
