3 WEDDINGS TO INSPIRE THE SUMMER SEASON

If you were looking for a reason to have a Summer wedding (also known as *the* June wedding if you’ve ever seen Bride Wars!), the following three weddings are sure to leave you with many ideas – they definitely left us feeling truly inspired for any future weddings held at Thicket Priory in the summer months.

Even though the Summer weather in the Yorkshire countryside can be fairly unpredictable, (and we will always have a back up plan in the case of any showers), it’s the ideal time of year to marry in our beautiful grounds or bandstand if you are wanting to have an outdoor ceremony – with the flowers in full bloom and surrounded by nature, it is the perfect backdrop!

Our terrace is a great space for you and your guests to enjoy a glass of fizz together after your ceremony – you can even have Pimms or Aperol Spritz to fit the season if you would prefer.

The Summer months are the perfect season to incorporate lawn games or mini golf as part of your Drinks Reception, we have croquet on site but you are welcome to bring any others to add a bit of *friendly* competetion between your guests. Other than feeling like your wedding is straight out of Bridgerton, it’s a fun activity for everyone, both adults and children included!

If you are having a two-day wedding, we highly recommend taking advantage of the outdoor area and having a BBQ for your night prior meal – it is not only a crowd pleaser, but a relaxed meal outside with your loved ones will make it truly feel like home for the weekend.

Vicky & Jonny – Mr & Mrs France Est. 13th August 2022

Vicky and Jonny married in our beautiful bandstand, and with the sun shining they were able to get some gorgeous photos in and around the grounds. They also opted to have an iconic champagne spray moment, which is not only something fun for you to do after the ceremony, but also allows you as newlyweds to spend a bit of quality time together before returning to your loved ones.

Their chosen flowers for their bouquets and table décor were a perfect fit for the season, with the white and pale pinks matching the cake, and pairing so nicely with the bridesmaid dresses, which were a pop of colour in the photos. Vicky also chose to opt for a dress change for the evening, which, if you’re worried about being too warm, this could be a good option for your evening reception.

Polaroid cameras are also a great addition to your wedding day, not only for the getting ready process in the morning, but also for the guests to get some candid snaps while your photographer is busy off taking your couple’s portraits!

Lauren & Danny – Mr & Mrs Gunson Est. 15th July 2023
Lauren and Danny opted for a simple black and white theme for their big day, which made everything feel very Vogue-esque – as well as making her ‘something blue’ heels pop in their pictures.

Our building truly is a blank canvas for you to make your own, with our neutral décor allowing you to choose whatever theme or aesthetic you desire. Lauren and Danny chose a unique mix of flowers including pampas, monstera leaves and orchids, which added a flare of drama, especially combined with LED candles that can be placed up our Grand Staircase, creating the perfect backdrop for you evening photographs. This spot has become increasingly popular for those dramatic evening photos in high flash – the perfect place for your *wow* Instagram content.

Despite the typical English weather, they managed to get some lovely photos outside; the unpredictable showers are something we always consider when helping you plan your wedding, with a plan B in place in case of any rain – and don’t worry, as rain on your wedding day is in fact good luck! Wellies and umbrellas are also always on hand and can often add an extra element of fun to your pictures if they’re needed.

Natalie & Lee – Mr & Mrs Matthews Est. 16th June 2022
Natalie and Lee had a very traditional and classy wedding where pearls and pure white roses were at the forefront. They opted for a neutral aesthetic, and even had ivory bridesmaid dresses to match. With the flowers on the building as their backdrop, everything tied in so perfectly well together creating the ultimate Hollywood moment for them.

If you’re looking for inspiration on how to change your look from day to evening on your big day, but don’t necessarily want to change out of your dress, Natalie chose to swap out her veil for a gorgeous glittery headband prior to her entrance into the ballroom for their first meal together as a married couple. A very simple yet effective change!

We have very limited dates left for Summer 2024, but do have some weekend dates available for 2025. If you are looking to have your own dream Summer wedding at Thicket Priory, please get in touch HERE.
