3 Weddings To Inspire The Autumn Season!

Autumn at Thicket Priory is beautiful and provides the perfect setting for a warm and cosy autumnal wedding. The oranges, reds and greens often seen in bouquets and bridesmaid dresses around this time of year paired with the backdrop of our unique country home and woodland gardens creates those picture-perfect moments that your photographer can capture throughout your special day. Even though Autumn in the Yorkshire countryside often brings wet weather, do not let this deter you, as it is in fact good luck – and we always have wellies and umbrellas on hand for you if needs be!

If you think an Autumn wedding is for you, or you’re currently planning one, I have picked three weddings held here at Thicket Priory to show you, all brimming with inspiration for those Autumn months …

Nicola & Adam – Mr & Mrs Honeyman Est. 1st September 2021
The Honeyman wedding was the epitome of Autumn – from the colours to the favours, every detail was specially chosen to create the perfect wedding for the season. Nicola chose the perfect dress for the time of year – with the longer sleeves for the cooler temperatures; paired with the gold heels and bouquet, she was the ultimate autumn bride.

In keeping with the Honeyman name and their family heritage, Nicola and Adam used this as inspiration for multiple parts of their wedding – they had jars of local honey as favours, and honey mead was served during their wedding breakfast. The warm orange tones of honey can even be seen in the details, including the flowers and suits, with this all contributing to the cosy and warm atmosphere of autumn.

A perfect element to your wedding for those darker nights are sparklers; not only are they a great way to get all your friends and family back together in one place later in the day, but they also look amazing in photos!

We have written a Real Wedding Blog on the Honeymans, so if you’re interested in knowing more about the details of their wedding, including how they met and got engaged, plus their thoughts on the venue then click HERE.

Words from the couple themselves:

“It’s hard to know where to start when talking about our experience with the beautiful Victorian gem which is Thicket Priory. From the sumptuous, tastefully designed interiors which offer such detail, depth and love, with captivating stories to be discovered at every turn and in every room; to the sensationally warm and welcoming team led with complete class and professionalism by the wonderful Anna. Through all the uncertainty and stress, Thicket Priory remained calm, supportive, and flexible to help realise our dream wedding…and wow was it incredible. A blessing and an honour to have had such a significant moment in this special, magical place. Unforgettable x”

“We would recommend it to anyone; find a way to make it work, you won’t regret it! Beautiful Victorian architecture, an absolute myriad of tasteful and magical interior spaces, staff and management of the upmost professionalism with wonderful demeanour and temperament, many tales to enjoy and secrets to find… just a privilege to spend time there.”

“I do not think the Thicket Priory team and especially Anna could have done any more or done any better from the first minute to last…perfection.”

Giving a special mention to their photographer Adam and Nicola said, “the standout for quality, effort and pure non-stop hard work on the day was Carla.”

Laetitia & Guy – Mr & Mrs Richardson Est. 29th October 2022
As opposed to the warm orange tones, Laetitia and Guy chose green as the signature colour for their wedding. The earthy tones paired with gold made for an amazing October wedding colour scheme. The dried flowers for the bouquet matched the colours perfectly, and it all tied in so well – especially with the gorgeous green shoes Laetitia chose! Despite the typical British wet weather, they managed to brave the rain and – with the addition of their personalised umbrellas (preparation is key) – their lovely photographer Carla captured some stunning pictures of them around the grounds.

Words from the couple themselves:

“Dear Becca and the entire Thicket Priory team,

Guy and I wanted to say a massive THANK YOU! for making our wedding day so special and for everything you have done over the past three years!

It feels almost strange that it is all over but also a relief that we can now start our married life after having spent the most perfect weekend with all of you!

Becca, you are truly the most amazing wedding organiser/planner we could have ever asked for. Thank you so much for being so kind, organised, perspective, calm, talented and just a beautiful person inside and out!

Lots of love from the Richardsons!”

Annie & Jamie – Mr & Mrs Stephen Est. 5th November 2022
The stand-out for me from Annie and Jamie’s wedding was most definitely the bouquets – it was the ultimate autumnal bouquet; dried flowers are a popular one for weddings towards the end of the year, and they provide a great way to showcase the colours of the season. Annie’s dress was the perfect choice for November with the neckline and longer sleeves, and the bridesmaid dresses were a selection of gorgeous autumnal colours that tied in so well with the bouquets.

Again, Annie and Jamie managed to get some stunning pictures outside despite the wet weather, with the addition of the sparklers making for the perfect evening photo with your friends and family in the background – it also provides you with a chance of getting them all back together again at the end of your wedding day before they head back to the dance floor!

We do have some dates left for Autumn 2024, despite October being fully booked – we have the last two weekends of September and most of November available; if you are dreaming of having your own autumnal fairytale wedding at Thicket Priory, please get in touch HERE.

With love,

Lil xXx
