3 Tips for the Perfect Wedding Video at Thicket Priory

From the experts, Craig & Charlotte at Hello There Films…
The main thing we’re looking for is good light! Thicket Priory oozes beauty and we always want to do it justice. We’re going to want you both to stand in the best light, we’re going to want to capture all of the details you’ve spent months preparing in good light, we’re going to want to film your tables all set up at the right time for the light to be in just the right place . . . you get the picture.

If you’ve got your heart set on portraits around the lake, think about what time of year that you’re getting married and where the light will be at what time. The sun sets at the front of the building, so this is where we’re going to want to be later on! So really think about your timings for portraits.

Which brings us nicely onto our next point – timings! The time between when your ceremony ends and when you sit down for your meal usually has to fit a lot in! Often this includes:

Confetti
Group shots
Portraits
Mingling with your favourite people
Some couples like to have a look at the room set up for dinner before all the guests come in
Anything else that you have planned for your drinks reception

All of this takes longer than you think and for you to feel relaxed and to enjoy your day, try not to condense any of this! Thicket Priory is beautiful and it would be a shame to not get to do everything. Again, if you’re thinking about portraits around the lake, remember that it takes about 15 minutes to walk all the way around it in muddy boots! It takes longer in all of your wedding finery and stopping to get portraits of the two of you.

Speaking of your portraits, the more uninterrupted time that we can have with the two of you the better! You’ve planned the wedding of the year, you’re at a spectacular venue, you’re never going to do this again, you don’t want to miss the opportunity for some time with just the two of you and some absolutely incredible footage!

If you’re unsure about the timings of anything speak to your videographers once you have a rough guide before setting it all in stone.

Our final top tip to get the best out of your videography at Thicket Priory is to keep your rooms tidy on the morning of your big day! If you don’t want something in your wedding film, make sure we can’t see it! A bit of wedding ’mess’ always looks great on camera, but a bag for life never looks good! This is a great job to give to someone in your wedding party. We want to spend the time capturing you and the people you’ve chosen to spend your morning with. We will move things if something is obvious, but we won’t be able to spot everything.

Once all of your planning is done, once you‘ve worked out your timings to allow time to experience everything, the day comes and you can just relax and take it all in, it really is the BEST DAY EVER!
