3 THINGS TO CONSIDER FOR THE PERFECT CONFETTI SHOT

One of the most iconic shots of your big day – the confetti shot. At Thicket Priory we most often do this on the terrace steps, but we have seen it be done in the Chapel, and in the Morning Room on rainy days; all turn out so well and it’s a fun way of returning to your guests as husband and wife after your ceremony! There are many different types and colours of confetti you can choose from; all we ask is that its biodegradable.

There are three key things to consider, however, when choosing the confetti for your big day:

1. What Confetti Should I Have?
The main two options you have for confetti are dried petals and paper. Opting for dried petals is often more popular for Spring and Summer, and it can be tied in with your bouquet and chosen décor, while also being a highly eco-friendly option. You could even choose to dry your own petals from flowers, perhaps ones you received for your engagement, giving them a more sentimental value. Paper confetti, on the other hand, is also a popular choice as it tends to stay afloat longer, giving your photographer some extra time to get that perfect shot.

We would recommend that regardless of if you choose to have petals or paper confetti for your guests, that you also bring a couple of cannons (ideally 3!) as these can be spaced out amongst your guests (again these must be ecofriendly). This ensures that you do get a good volume of paper in the air to elevate your photos and make sure you get *the* perfect confetti shot! You can also bring an additional paper canon for during your first dance – we even saw confetti cannons be used for a first dance turned gender reveal in April 2023 for Catherine & Craig’s wedding!

2. What Colour Should I Go For?
It can often be difficult to decide whether to have colour or stick to the traditional white; if you are wanting a pop of colour, this is often a good time to incorporate that into your photos as it is extremely effective, and it adds an extra element of fun to your day. However, if you’re wanting to go with white or a more neutral colour, this is the more ‘classic’ option – it’s timeless and will make your confetti shots look like something straight out of Vogue.
Ultimately, the colour you choose for your confetti is a personal preference – there’s no right or wrong choice, and often depends on the aesthetic you’ve chosen for your wedding.

3. How Will I Give The Confetti To My Guests?
The two options we suggest as a way for us to give the confetti out to your guests after the ceremony is either in small packets or by using a large basket/tray for them to take a handful. If you think the more confetti the better, best to opt for a basket and then your guests can take as much as they want, whereas mini packets can often be a nice keepsake because you can personalise them and make them unique to your day.

Hopefully this has helped you if you needed inspiration for what confetti to choose – ultimately it depends on what suits your personal style best, all options are always very effective, and the pictures turn out great!
